Did you know?

A good dose of sun, but not too much...

Essential to our psychological balance, the sun and its light play a beneficial role on our morale and our well-being.

Examples?

The sun has positive effects on the immune system and therapeutic effects for bone building, vitality and mood.

It helps regulate our sleep rhythm.

Our bodies need sunlight to synthesize vitamin D. Essential for everyone's bone capital, this vitamin is particularly important for children's growth.

A few minutes of exposure per day are enough for our body to produce it and thus allow us to fix calcium and phosphorus.

The Sun emits several types of rays including UV rays:

UVA and UVB.

  • UVB rays reach the skin's surface and are responsible for tanning and sunburn.

  • UVA rays penetrate deep into the tissues (of the eye or skin) and accelerate their aging.

Whether it's sunny or cloudy, we are exposed to harmful UV rays.

First of all, what are UV rays?

The sun is good for your health...cream is enough to protect your skin...why not just use sunscreen?

Creams are often less effective for young children since they spend their time in sea water and sand.

We know that the risk of melanoma (skin cancer that can be extremely aggressive) in young people is directly correlated with the frequency and severity of sunburn before the age of 20.

Only UPF 50+ anti-UV clothing provides effective protection against UVA and UVB rays.

Sunscreen isn't a total blocker, and neither is a cotton T-shirt, which only provides 4% UV protection. A T-shirt will protect against heat and dehydration, but not against the sun's harmful rays.

UV-protective swimsuits, BAÏNES, protect the most sensitive parts of the child's body: the neck, shoulders, forearms, torso, and thighs. Don't forget sunscreen for uncovered areas, as well as a hat and sunglasses!

Under a parasol, am I protected from UV rays?

TRUE and FALSE: Your parasol only blocks some UV rays.

And on the beach or in the mountains, sand or snow have a significant reflective power.

So even in the shade of a parasol: sunscreen and UV top

In our region, we don't have much sun.

Be careful, an overcast sky lets through 80% of ultraviolet rays. These are all risk factors for developing skin cancer.

I have listened to and respected your recommendations, and I will swim after 4 p.m.

C’est un très bon réflexe, attention après 16 H, il y a moins d’UVB , responsables des coups de soleil, mais énormément d’UVA, responsables du photovieillissement. Donc, on reste vigilants et on continue à se protéger

In the water, am I protected from the sun's rays?

FALSE: Water does not protect against the sun's rays. Water has a strong reflective effect, which further exposes the face and exposed areas to UV rays. Bring ultra-water-resistant sunscreen and a UV top.

I have dark skin and tan easily. Am I at risk of sunburn?

Even though they tan easily, dark-skinned people experience the same genetic mutations and the harmful effects are the same in the long term.

For example, today, dermatologists are seeing more and more rosacea in brown people…*

* Rosacea is a vascular abnormality characterized by redness on the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin.

What do UPF and UPF 50+ mean?

UPF stands for “Ultraviolet Protection Factor.”

It is an index defined for textiles with a European standard, it indicates the percentage of UV filtration.

UPF 50+ guarantees very high protection since this rate blocks more than 97.5% of UVA and UVB rays.

What is the difference between UPF and SPF?

SPF stands for “Sunburn Protection Factor.”

SPF is the index that represents the level of protection of a sun product (cream, milk, mist, etc.).`

UPF stands for “Ultraviolet Protection Factor” and indicates the percentage of UV filtration by the textile.

Each sun index corresponds to a percentage of UVB blocked.
